Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization that is funded entirely by donations. This year we're selling booklets for “Community Day” which is on February 26th this year. This booklet has coupons which are good exclusively* at Younkers and only on February 26, 2011.

This booklet cost $5 but there is a coupon in it for $10 off your purchase of ten dollars or more! There is a limit of 5 coupons so you can actually get a total of $50 off your purchase of fifty dollars or more. In addition to the $10 off coupon there are other coupons in the book for 30% off for Early Birds, 20% off for other purchases, $20 off shoes, $50 off Skechers Shape-Ups, 50% of outerwear, and many other coupons! Crime Stoppers is inviting local high school students to create a new logo.

We need a new logo as our current logo is a 'bit' outdated.  We're looking for a new, creative logo and we know there are some exceptional artists in our local High Schools.  Below we've listed some of the rules of the contest:

* Contest begins November 15, 2010 and ends January 3, 2011.
* Contest is open to any High School Students attending a school in Cerro Gordo County.
* Drawing should be submitted on 8 1/2 x 11 paper or digitally.
* Up to five drawings per contestant will be allowed.
* Entries should be in color.
* Crime Stoppers of North Central Iowa reserves the right to disqualify any and all entries.
* All entries must be received no later than January 3, 2011 to be considered.

On October 26, 2010 at about 1705 hours, Mason City Police responded to the 600 block of 11th NE on a report of a dog that had been shot.  Officers arrived and found a German Shepard that had been shot and injured.  Officers transported the animal to a local veterinarian where the animal was treated.  After attempting to save the animal it was ultimately humanely euthanized.  Mason City Police canvassed the neighborhood attempting to find any information relating to the case.  There have been no new leads to follow up on since the incident.

Several local citizens have came forward and donated their own money to Crime Stoppers to collect information relating to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who is responsible for shooting the German Shepard.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-383-0088.  The information gathered by Crime Stoppers will be kept confidential.

Crime Stoppers has recently paid out cash rewards for thefts in Clear Lake as well as vandalism to the Muse Norris Softball Complex in Mason City. If you have information about a crime please call Crime Stoppers at 800-383-0088. All information will be kept in strict confidence and the caller need not give their name. Rewards of up to $1,000.00 may be paid for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
